Parallel to our launch of our Revolutionary Reads of the Month, and in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, National Coming Out Day, and Spirit Day, we are trying to start the hashtag #WhenIBegan, as a way to collect the strength and solidarity contained in our most cherished stories – when we realized that we were different (Black, Queer, Trans, Indigenous… in whatever way holding a marginalized identity), what that meant for us, and the stories of when we began to find our communities.

By joining this campaign and telling your story, if you’re able, you help to give a voice to those who may not feel they have one, and strength to others to find their own. If you join us, we thank you <3.

We here at Collage will be sharing our own stories, and if you feel comfortable, we hope you’ll share yours, too! (PG only, please. Folks under 18, please check with a parent or guardian.) Over time, we hope to collect a sampling of the stories shared via the hashtag here on the Collage Colorado page. Stay tuned!

(This campaign is inspired in part by Jacqueline Woodson‘s wonderful book, and we encourage you to pick up a copy!)

When did you begin to know you were different? When did you begin to know you are AMAZING?

Join us in our #WhenIBegan hashtag campaign, and tell your story. When did you begin?
